"Skatin' for Treyton" at VCS

February 25, 2019

When a Viscount Central School student was involved in a serious car accident on the way to a hockey game on January 24, the school community knew they wanted to do what they could to support him and his family during his recovery. School staff came up with the idea for a “Skatin’ for Treyton” skate-a-thon fundraiser, and raised approximately $2600 from the community in just four days. These funds were presented to the family at the end of the skate-a-thon, which was held at the Viscount rink on February 15.

In addition to the funds, Treyton was presented with get-well gifts from Horizon School Division and the Humboldt Broncos organization. Horizon’s Subdivision 3 Trustee, Jennifer Lemky, presented these gifts. “I am thankful that we live in a community that comes together at these times, and I’m so proud of what these students and staff have done to support this family in such a short amount of time,” she said.

“Here at VCS, we are continuously impressed with the overwhelming support we get from our community,” says VCS Principal Eric Anderson. “Whether it is in response to tragedy or celebration, we can always count on the kindness of others.”

Get well soon, Treyton!
