at Robert Melrose Elementary School in Kelvington has recently undergone a
renovation and redecorating, thanks to the hard work of school staff and a
donation from the local credit union.
had been running a hot lunch fundraiser to replace their library furniture, but
that project would have taken years to raise enough funds for the furniture
they wanted, so they applied to the Accent Credit Union for a grant. That grant was approved for approximately $6300.
Using the donation,
staff at RMES purchased child-sized couches and chairs, new tables, new display
hardware, and new bookshelves. On March 15, the school held a ribbon-cutting
event to officially celebrate the new space with officials from Accent Credit

and accessible for our students.”
Kim Nicholls and Librarian Sherry Romanus have been working to update the
library and weed the school’s book collection. Their furniture and other
items began arriving at the school in January, and since then, they have spent
many hours updating the space for their students and school.
