Youth Gathering at GGEC

October 18, 2019

Principal Tammy McNab and her staff at George Gordon Education Centre (GGEC), along with Chief Bitternose, Elders, and members of the George Gordon First Nation, put on an incredible day of activities and learning for over 300 students in the area. Horizon students from GGEC, Nokomis School, William Derby School, and visiting students from Muskowekwan School and McDermid Community School in Regina all gathered at GGEC to join the event on October 10.

There were teachings on topics ranging from Treaties, Residential Schools, Cree language, hunting and fishing, constellations, plants, tipi raising, traditional games, and more.

George Gordon First Nation has hosted similar events in the past, and Principal McNab was eager to have the school host the event and extend the invitation to area students.

Ms. McNabb says her whole staff was integral to the day’s success, including the planning team of Ms. Lindsay Bear, Kaira Fazakas, Irma Anderson, and Alberta-Rose Bear.

Congratulations on a fantastic day of learning, GGEC!
