Tammy McNab and her staff at George Gordon Education Centre (GGEC), along with
Chief Bitternose, Elders, and members of the George Gordon First Nation, put on
an incredible day of activities and learning for over 300 students in the area.
Horizon students from GGEC, Nokomis School, William Derby School, and visiting
students from Muskowekwan School and McDermid Community School in Regina all
gathered at GGEC to join the event on October 10.There were
teachings on topics ranging from Treaties, Residential Schools, Cree language,
hunting and fishing, constellations, plants, tipi raising, traditional games,
Gordon First Nation has hosted similar events in the past, and Principal McNab
was eager to have the school host the event and extend the invitation to area
says her whole staff was integral to the day’s success, including the planning
team of Ms. Lindsay Bear, Kaira Fazakas, Irma Anderson, and Alberta-Rose Bear.
