On May 12, Bruno School celebrated their first year as a "Leader in Me" school with their first "Leadership Day". Students from Humboldt Public School and Imperial School joined Bruno School students in celebration of this day and to take part in leadership activities.
The day began with a presentation by Mr. Ernie Louttit, retired soldier and police officer and award-winning author. Mr. Louttit's presentation focused on the importance of leadership in in our lives and society.
Students then set out to beautify the town of Bruno through "150 Acts of Leadership". They worked on the school yard, town parks and sportsgrounds and other odd jobs, spreading kindness to everyone they met.
Following a community picnic, students, staff and families joined a "Leadership Assembly", during which students performed songs and skits about the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People. The day culminated with this year's Kindergarten class planting an elm tree to signify the theme of "nurturing leaders and watching them grow".
