Mr. Hrynkiw, Horizon's Superintendent of Learning Services, has been visiting schools and communities to share information with students and parents/caregivers about online safety. His presentation, titled "Social Media Awareness & Digital Citizenship", was developed during the 2016-17 school year. Since this fall, Mr. Hrynkiw has delivered the presentation in over a dozen communities and schools across Horizon.
The most recent presentation took place at Viscount Central School on Friday, December 15. Groups of students in Grades 5-8 and 9-12 took in the presentation, which covers topics such as cyberbullying, anti-bullying resources, safety tips for using a number of social media platforms and what it means to be a good digital citizen.
This presentation is part of Horizon School Division's Safe & Caring goal
to ensure that we provide safe and caring learning environments for all students and staff.
