Annual SCC Workshops

March 14, 2018
Each year, School Community Council (SCC) members from across Horizon School Division are invited for an evening of presentations and discussions on the importance of their work as SCCs, along with Horizon School Division Board of Education Trustees and personnel from Horizon’s central office.

This year, workshops were held on the evenings of March 6 & 7, in Lanigan Central High School and Wadena Composite High School, respectively. Each workshop enjoyed a great turnout, with approximately 70 people in attendance between the two evenings.

SCC members from the surrounding areas took in presentations from members of Horizon’s senior leadership, including Director of Education, Kevin C. Garinger, Superintendent of Learning Services, Crandall Hrynkiw, Superintendent of Student Services, Darrell Paproski and Supervisor of Literacy & Early Learning, Katherine Oviatt, Superintendent of Operational Services/COO, Justin Arendt and Superintendent of Finance Services/CFO, Marilyn Flaman. SCC members also shared ideas and discussed their work with schools during like-group sessions to close the evenings.

This year’s workshops were coordinated by Horizon’s Deputy Director of Education, Randy MacLEAN, and Administrative Assistant, Nicole Fitzpatrick.
