Wakaw Grade 4 Book Launch & Dedication to Humboldt Broncos
June 29, 2018
Wakaw School's Grade 4B students held a book launch event on June 27, 2018, to celebrate the completion of their book,
If You've Never Seen A Hockey Game
. With the help of their teacher, Ms. Kristal Dunville, and Horizon School Division's Writer-In-Residence,
these students wrote stories and drew pictures about the experience and spirit of the game of hockey. Mr. Brouwer visited the school to take part in the book launch and spent time talking with students about the power of stories. Students then read their fantastic stories for the school and guests of the event.
The class has dedicated their book to the Humboldt Broncos and those affected by the tragedy of April 6, 2018. Kevin C. Garinger – Horizon School Division Director of Education and Humboldt Broncos President – accepted this dedication and shared a message on behalf of both the school division and the Broncos.
This Writer-In-Residence book project is part of Horizon's focus on literacy and writing outcomes, which will see the publication of books written by students in a number of Horizon schools.
